Born in Turin in 1941, Ventura attended the Philosophical Faculty in Milan without graduating. While studying he also worked as a photo editor and assistant to Ugo Mulas. For a brief time, he was interested in photo reportage, before turning to conceptual photography. Numerous exhibitions, including at the Venice Biennale, and at the Les Rencontres d’Arles Festival. Ventura passed away in 2020, at home in Ghiffa, on Lago Maggiore.
